Hand-embroidered by our women's cooperative in Madagascar, the Ahitra scented candle features natural raffia with vibrant flowers. Each visible stitch reveals hours of devotion as craftswomen interpret lavender, sunflowers, and poppies with spontaneous grace.

A soothing and identity-rich candle, reminiscent of the serenity of a path lined with wild grasses.

Fragrance Notes

Explosive mint freshness opens like crushed leaves, joined by vetiver's earthy, rooted depth before ylang-ylang adds warm, solar floral sensuality. An aromatic composition evoking the serenity of paths lined with wild grasses.

Use

The quality of our scented candles involves a specific burning ritual. Each time the candle is burnt, it is important to wait until the entire surface liquefies before extinguishing the candle. This will prevent the formation of craters which are unattractive and make burning more difficult. The first time you light your candle, it will always burn for longer than on subsequent occasions. Allow time for the first layer of wax to liquefy completely. The length of time this takes varies depending on the size of the candle.

Never burn the last 1cm (1/2 inch) of wax to avoid flames burning against the glass.

Craftsmanship

Raphia is an endemic plant species harvested every year. The leaves are dried, then cut into long strips for dyeing and crocheting. Our women's cooperative in Madagascar has been making our Raphia candles for 8 years, under the impetus of our creative direction. The motifs are first designed and then produced by the crocheters in Madagascar. This annual project enables women to make a decent living and send their children to school.
